Five social media news Websites you should regularly check out

Mashable.com
This is one of the most popular sites on the Internet - hands down. It’s a blog, but much like the Huff, you cannot tell the difference. Mashable.com is a fantastic resource for social media news. They are independent, the biggest guys around, and are definitely among the leaders in social media. With a talented staff of writers, they very often offer social media news and technology journalistic scoops. An absolute “must read” for enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Techcrunch.com
Coming in second place is Techcrunch.com. This is also a great resource for social media news. Much like Mashable.com, you can access news about technology, business, social media, etc. Proof of its popularity is that they have recently been acquired by AOL’s new policy to aggregate fun, hip, interesting, and trendy popular blogs to its armada. We guarantee you will find some great content there.

Socialmediatoday.com
This is a slightly different beast. Much as its name indicates, socialmediatoday.com is a blog that’s all, and only about, social media. It’s our third pick because it’s less about news, and more about thought pieces, opinions, and reflections. They are also different because they act as sort of an aggregator. Independent bloggers contribute to the content of the blog with a link back to the original story. It’s a unique model, because you can listen to many different voices.

Socialtimes.com
Our fourth pick, socialtimes.com, is part of mediabistro.com. The Social Times is another blog with a staff of writers, using a format close to Mashable.com and Techcrunch.com. If you are interested in social games (Farmville anyone?), you might want to check this one out regularly, as there is an entire section devoted to them. If you are exclusively interested in Facebook or Twitter, their affiliates (allfacebook.com and alltwitter.com) are pretty nifty resources.

And now for the doozie: Alltop.com
Alltop.com is a fantastic social media and new tech resource. If you don’t have the time to check numerous sites individually, Alltop.com provides you with the top stories from some of the above mentioned blogs, as well as many others. It’s innovative, practical, and easy to use. Highly recommended!
