Alternative Strategies' Softball Team

Play Ball!

It's official. Alternative Strategies has a softball team! This month we signed up to play in a coed, eight-on-eight Vavi softball league! The Vavi league has a unique set of rules, some of which include: each team pitches to themselves, guys and girls alternate the batting line-up, three pitches and you're out, infield fly balls are an automatic out, etc. Luckily for us, everyone showed up with the right attitude and the right hat. Unfortunately, our hopes of going undefeated were spoiled after the very first inning.

This crazy fun and definitely competitive, coed league is charged with eight teams that are all ready to take home the bragging rights of league championship. Each team must have at least eight players (three of whom must be girls), which was no problem for Alternative Strategies as we played with six girls and six guys.

Even though we got off to a shaky start, there was definitely some stand -out moments worth bragging about. Daniel, our sturdy second baseman, snagged a ball out of the air that surprised even him. William dominated the outfield and established himself as the fastest player on our team and most importantly, everyone got better with each and every inning.

So, if you're looking to watch some trash talking, Big League Chew bubble-blowing divas swing for the fences, then come out and support Alternative Strategies every Monday night from 6-8pm at the Adams Avenue Rec Center. Check our Facebook and Twitter for more updates and specific playing times, or visit the Vavi website.
