[ BRAGGING RIGHTS ]

This month, with help from our media relations team, several of our clients were recognized both locally and nationally. From mentoring on a national cooking show, to receiving a “Best Of” award, to one of our restaurant clients being recognized as a best spot for brunch in San Diego on the country’s biggest site for travel booking… it’s certainly been an exciting month!

Romesco Mexiterranean Bistro

Earlier this month, celebrity chef Javier Plascencia (Romesco Mexiterranean Bistro and Bracero: Cocina de Raiz), was a guest mentor on ABC’s The Taste; a cooking-themed reality competition currently in its third season. The judging panel features no-holds barred Chef Anthony Bourdain, British food star Nigella Lawson, expert chef/author Ludo Lefebvre and chef, author and restaurateur Marcus Samuelson.

The episode, aptly named “Latin,” featured bold, bright, flavorful and spicy dishes. The competitors were tasked with creating dishes such as ceviche and tacos, all with the help and guidance of Plascencia. He is the second chef from the San Diego region to appear on the show as a guest mentor.

Plascencia’s appearance on the show was shared in Los Angeles Magazine, the Washington Post, The Union Tribune, Eater, TV Grape Vine and SanDiegoVille.

In addition to the appearance on The Taste, Plascencia’s Romesco Mexiterranean Bistro won for “Reader’s Choice: Favorite Restaurant” in the January issue of Riviera Magazine.

Table No. 10

Also gaining national media recognition this month is Table No 10’s cocktail program. ABC’s newly launched 30-minute show, The List, recently showcased Table No 10’s Flux Capacitor. Think science meets cocktail. This smoky but sweet “magic potion” is perfect for two.

For the January issue, Table No 10 was awarded with “Best Of The City” by Riviera Magazine. To quote their team, Table No. 10’s “starkly minimalist interior belies the complexity of Jason’s top-notch cooking, a carnivore’s dream with dishes on the chef and co-owner’s menu like lazy ravioli with braised suckling pig, or octopus with Portuguese sausage and sorrel chimichurri.”

The Duck Dive

This past fall, The Duck Dive’s Rob McShea stepped up his cocktail game. After entering a national Bloody Mary contest, hosted by Food Network’s Chopped and the NYC Wine & Food Fest, McShea earned 1st place in California and advanced to the finals in New York City. His “Jamaican Me Crazy,” made with Absolut Citron, yellow heirloom tomato puree, “Bloody Jerk” mix, agave nectar, a squeeze of lemon, two jerk-rubbed prawns and a grilled mango chip as a garnish placed 2nd overall.

Fig Tree Café

San Diego is no longer satisfied being the fish taco and craft beer capital of the world. Now the city is taking on brunch. Local restaurant, Fig Tree Café, is leading the brunch scene by offering dishes such as: the Fig Jam & Ricotta Cheese-Stuffed French Toast, the House Made Lobster & Blue Crab Cakes “Bennie” and their Breakfast Sushi, made of three thick bacon rolls, rice, scrambled eggs and scallions.

Taking notice of Fig Tree Café’s brunch is Expedia, the leading travel website for booking flights and hotels. Their team included Fig Tree Café in their list of 5 Best Brunches in San Diego, a well-deserved accolade.
