The history of the Ranch is unsurpassable. The adobe lodge is the one of the original structures created by the Weir Brothers; two construction gurus who came to San Diego after World War II and made their living building homes made with adobe bricks created by hand. The bricks used to build the Ranch were made from materials (sand and clay) found right on the property. Many of the structural components of the Ranch were sourced from historic locations throughout San Diego, including the original beams from the original San Diego Pier, which were used to build the ceiling.
The Ranch also features stables filled with a variety of horses ranging from Shetland ponies to Appaloosas, and offers horseback riding for novice and experienced riders to enjoy nearby trails, carriage rides around the property, equestrian lessons and equestrian summer camps for all animal-loving children. At the Ranch, children will learn to care for, and be comfortable around their gentle animals.
