Prepare to Be Shocked!

Located in downtown San Diego’s East Village, BeShock Ramen & Sake Bar is a brand new upbeat addition to the neighborhood. The venue is trendy and sleek with accents of Japanese-inspired décor. Co-founders Masaki Yamauchi and Ayaka Ito have combined their backgrounds and extensive knowledge to give guests a culturally-inspired dining experience.

Masaki Yamauchi, originally from Nagoya, Japan, is a key player in the growing success of BeShock. Having lived in several American culinary hotspots including New York, Los Angeles and Hawaii, Masaki expanded his fascination for food and culture. With his culinary passion and knowledge, he is well on his way to making BeShock San Diego’s premier ramen spot. Also born in Nagoya, Japan, Ayaka Ito brings her enthusiasm for sake to the table. Achieving the prestigious Sake Master Certification in 2014, she uses her mastery to provide excellent food-sake pairings and flights for customers to try. The combination of their strengths sets BeShock apart.

From the unique ingredients used to make up their Japanese-inspired menu, to the precise attention paid to the proper serving temperature of each unique sake, BeShock is a standout in San Diego’s expanding restaurant scene. Offering a variety of dishes along with their impressive ramen bowls, they focus on combining a mix of local vegetables and traditional Japanese seasonings to give the ramen a noticeably lighter taste. The boastful menu also includes sushi as well as an array of appetizers that strategically pair with select sakes. Guests can even boost their sake-sipping experience by drinking from a traditional wooden Masu Box. Let the Hinoki-infused flavors come through!

Attend BeShock’s Monthly Sake Events and Weekly Sake Hour. Taking place on the first of every month and on Wednesday evenings, you can absorb the culture, try unique sakes and indulge in a bite to eat.
