The Alternative Strategies team is happy to announce its newest client to join the roster: Del Sur Mexican Cantina. Located in the heart of South Park off 30th St. and Juniper, Del Sur serves up classic Mexican comfort food and delectable cocktails at reasonable prices. San Diego is packed with south of the border eats, but Del Sur tops the list. Owned by longtime business partners and friends Lauren Passero Brookes and Kate Grimes (who also own The Haven Pizzeria and Kensington Café), they saw an opportunity to bring the new dining experience to the quaint neighborhood of South Park.
Family friendly, dog friendly and vegetarian friendly, everyone is welcome to dine at this local eatery. The 2,100-square-foot cantina opened its doors last March, and has since gained a steady following of locals and regulars. The menu includes all of the Mexican staples such as hearty burritos, enchiladas and tacos. Combination plates allow diners the option of choosing any two or three items, satisfying all appetites. The menu also boasts several gluten-free and vegan options like Jackfruit Tacos or Vegan Tamales. Patrons are invited to stop in on weekend mornings to enjoy brunch items such as Huevos Rancheros and Breakfast Carnitas for a delicious way to start the day. Add a margarita or two to the order as happy hour is offered all day on Wednesdays, and on other weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sabrina and Natasha Mitchell – the bartender duo – shake up innovative libations and have created an impressive cocktail list, featuring an array of mezcals and tasty tequilas.
The exterior of the restaurant also adds to Del Sur’s authentic ambiance. The rustic, mission-style architecture sets the stage for their traditional Mexican cuisine and Del Sur’s vibrant décor is a delightful backdrop, while diners settle in and enjoy their meals. Bright pops of color perk up the restaurant’s walls while a floral sign that reads "Buen Provecho" invites patrons to dig in and enjoy.
