Upcoming and Recent Openings!

Alt Strat has been crazy-busy this year, helping to open a smorgasbord of new spots to feast on all around San Diego! Here is a glimpse of the current projects that have been keeping our feet to the fire:

For starters, Liberty Station in Point Loma added El Jardín to its slate a few months ago, serving authentic, chef-inspired Mexican cuisine reinterpreted with local ingredients. El Jardín strives to honor both the diverse cultures that have lent a hand in shaping the seven regions of Mexican cuisine, as well as ancestral recipes created and shared by matriarchs throughout history. Even their expansive indoor and outdoor décor recalls the restaurant’s culinary heritage.

Casa Rústica is spicing up the neighborhood with its festive Mexican eatery at Carmel Valley's Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch. Open daily for lunch and dinner, and weekends for brunch, Casa Rústica will serve up familiar south-of-the-border favorites, plus a host of authentic plates such as Ceviche, Nopales Salad and Mole Chilaquiles. Their cheer-worthy Margarita Program is sure to keep the party going strong up north.

Hidden Fish will be worth the search, opening this month in the Kearny Mesa area. As San Diego’s first Omakase sushi destination, traditionally prepared, top-level seafood will be delivered to each guest at this intimate 13 seat sushi "gallery." Delicacies from the sea will be sourced from around the globe - including a rotating selection direct from Japan’s renowned Tsukiji Fish Market. Their focus is on bringing carefully executed specialties to each palate with impeccable service and timing.

Route 29 debuts this month in the Gaslamp as a tribute to Napa Valley's iconic wine culture and farm-to-table cuisine. Sustainable, local, organic ingredients (plus vegan offerings) make up their fluctuating, season-driven menu featuring California cuisine with a dash of Euro flair. Their Napa Valley forward, extensive wine list is designed for pairing with everything they serve, and Route 29's open kitchen concept and décor complete the experience. They are open for dinner each night and weekend brunch.

Dog Haus is busting out with another location, now in Vista, set to open this August. With another spot Downtown and plans to expand to Chula Vista soon, their list of 30+ locations in nine states proves that Dog Haus is taking Best of Show. San Diego is howling for more of their hormone- nitrate- and antibiotic- free gourmet hot dogs, hand-crafted sausages, 100% Black Angus burgers and irresistible chicken sandwiches. Craft beers, too! And to prove man is truly Dog’s best friend, through 2018, partial proceeds go to No Kid Hungry.

Farmer's Table is satisfying La Mesa’s emerging culinary appetite and is now growing their legacy with two new spots around San Diego. Bay Park (expected to open in August) and Little Italy (slated for September) will call this all-day eatery home, featuring salads, sandwiches, authentic wood-fired pizzas and flatbreads. Farmer's Table is a food-to-fork destination where locally sourced organic ingredients come together to be savored in an atmosphere that is always friendly and inviting.
