Alternative Strategies has been lucky enough to call North Park home for over five years, and our ties to the neighborhood don't stop at proximity. We represent five eateries in the area, including the very first Breakfast Republic and City Tacos locations, as well as Mr. Moto Pizza, The Original 40 Brewing Company and our newest addition to the client roster, Metlbar Creamery & Cafe. Born in North Park, City Tacos now oversees five locations around San Diego, including outposts in La Mesa, Imperial Beach, Sorrento Valley, Encinitas, Pacific Beach, and of course, North Park. We're excited to have seen this brand grow from conception to a roaring success as a staple taco spot in its respective neighborhoods. Beloved for its elevated renditions of classic street tacos, the taqueria has won the hearts of taco lovers everywhere.
Longstanding brunch destination, Breakfast Republic, has been with Alternative Strategies since the eatery opened in May 2015. Now touting 11 locations between San Diego, Orange County and West Hollywood, the brunch concept has seen immense growth over the course of the past six years. This local spot is best known for slinging innovative brunch items, from Oreo Cookie French Toast to Breakfast Bacon Mac ‘n' Cheese. You'll be hard-pressed to find a local who doesn't know about Breakfast Republic!
Alternative Strategies has been working with The Original 40 Brewing Company from its opening day back in 2019. Steve and Patricia Billings are longtime North Park business owners, having operated the neighborhood's U31 Bar for the past 11+ years and living in North Park for the past 10 years. Their latest venture explores the world of in-house-brewed beer paired with an elaborate food menu at The Original 40, named after the 40-acres of land purchased in 1893 by James Monroe Hartley that is now North Park.
Mr. Moto Pizza was established in 2015 in Pacific Beach, and has since grown to encompass eight locations. We began our journey with the opening of their Seaport location in 2020, and have been working with them ever since to promote the brand's other existing locations, including one in our own beloved neighborhood – you guessed it; North Park! Their coveted pies and slices are what make this pizzeria such a success among pizza-loving foodies seeking a New York-style slice. Characteristically thin-crust pies feature a chewy outer edge (or "handle") that is remarkably fluffy! In just one year's time, the technique earned Mr. Moto critical acclaim as "San Diego's Best Gourmet Pizza" since 2016. Keep an eye out for their new Mission Valley location opening soon!
Boozy cocktails, anyone? Yes, please! Nestled in the heart of North Park, Metlbar Creamery & Café specializes in Southern-style brunch and lunch creations complemented by Mexican culinary influence, plus a slew of boozy ice cream cocktails and non-boozy ice cream for even the city's strongest sweet tooth. Also equipped with an outpost in the Gaslamp Quarter that offers brunch, lunch and dinner options, Metlbar continues to curb cravings while infusing the ice cream experience with a spirits and cocktail focus.
